Gryp, Earl, 82 passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008. He was at home under the care of Hospice and his loving family. He was born in Colona, Illinois in 1925. He was an Army veteran of WWII and served with General Patton in the Third Army. He was employed by Foremost Packing Co. until going on the East Moline Fire Department in 1953. He was on the Fire Department 22 years, then transferred to the Waste Treatment Plant for 6 years. After 28 years of service for the City of East Moline, he retired in 1981. That same year, he and his wife moved to St. Petersburg. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia; two daughters, Joanne (Kurt) McDuffie of St. Petersburg and Janice (Larry) Cox of Rio Linda, California; a sister, Clara Downing, of East Moline, Illinois; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Monday October 27, 2008 at R. Lee Williams & Son Funeral Home, 3530 49th Street N., St. Petersburg. He will be interred at the Bay Pines National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Hospice Foundation of The Florida Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd. Clearwater, FL 33760.
