Modzelewski, John Bernard of St. Petersburg died Aug 26, 2007. He was born in New York City, N.Y. June 9, 1916. He was a graduate from the University of Missouri in 1939 with a B.A. Degree in Chemistry, Economics and Finance. During WWII he was a chemist with American Cyanamid Co. in New Jersey. While living in Waterloo, Iowa after WWII he was a Scout Master for a Troop sponsored by Sacred Heart church and also active with church activities and Knights of Columbus and Christian Family Movement. He worked for John Deere Waterloo Tractor and retired in 1976 after 30 years where he was Supervisor of the East Coast Department and world wide coordinator of their overseas operations. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1976 and was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration for thirty years where he was a greeter and usher at the Saturday evening Mass. He was a past President of the Disston Heights Civic Assoc. and was involved with the AARP annual income tax program. Survivors include his wife of 67 years Coylie. Daughters; Josephine Nichols of Dunbar, Iowa, Marianne Minks of New Hartford, Iowa. Sisters; Jane Pecherski , Stasia Miller. Brothers; Richard & Peter Modzelewski all of Staten Island, N.Y. 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son John Jr. Friends will be received Wednesday, Aug 29 at the funeral home form 2-4pm with a Rosary at 3:30. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 9:00AM at the Church of the Transfiguration. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery R. Lee Williams & Son 49th St. Chapel 527-1177
